Shooting Strategy for Traveling

Well, we are in Tokyo! Just landed last night and we have so many plans for the next week! Not only are we teaching for 3 days, we have 3 days to play in Japan and photograph. PLUS, we want to gather material for our blogs and classes and we are creating a book from this trip!

So we decided to write out our strategy– the still examples we want to shoot (like a time lapse shot, and a special image for a Maple wood print from bay photo, an example of a wide angle shot vs a panorama, a dynamic HDR from a Japanese Temple….) stuff like that! AND we are planning for our video projects too. So we have a list of videos to shoot. We are definitely going to focus on Cinemagraphs here. We already shot a couple last night in Shinjuku with the city lights and people bustling about!

I also want to make a collection of images and videos with a theme Motif. Im agonizing about what it will be but will decide today, our first day here! It will be a special page in our book.

So with my printed list, we will read it every day and keep a copy in our pocket for daily review so we remember. It is so easy to get caught up in the thrill of traveling and beautiful sights and forget the special projects you want to shoot! We have such a tendency to shoot the same styles and things we always do! #inthezone So we are off to Kichijoji and Yokohama today– looking for our treasures #treasurehunt and doing all the usuals of course! (#ShadowPlay, #DrivebyShootings, #CirclesNDots)

So here we go! Off to discover and capture the Japanese world with a Lumix GH4, FZ1000, GX8 and a TS5. So wish I had the new ZS100, but it will be out next month! #phototoys #mirrorlessismore #Lumixlounge
